The Estates Building

The Estates Building is a two story apartment building that offers three different layouts:

• 1 Bedroom Efficiencies
• 1 Bedroom Suites
• 2 Bedroom Suites

 In the pictures to the below we are showcasing our 2 bedroom apartment. The biggest differences between the one bedroom & two bedrooms are that there's one less bedroom, it has an extra section to the bathroom, and the closet is a bit different in size. But the size of the living room, kitchen, patio, and main bedroom remain the same.

All apartments come unfurnished. The pictures below are staged apartments to give you an idea what they look like and what items can fit into the apartment. The furniture in the photos below are courtesy of Rent One in Lawrenceville, IL at (618) 943-6663.

The Living Room

The Living Room is large enough to house a couch and a love seat (as shown in the photos below). Variations can be made to the layout and can easily fit a couch, loveseat, chairs, tables, entertainment centers, etc.

Patios & Balconies

In every apartment in the Estates Building (except for two of our efficiencies) it comes with a patio for first floor apartments or a balcony for the second floor apartments. These outdoor areas can easily fit patio furniture, plants, or decorations. For first floor apartments, you have a small area where you can plant flowers or vegetables. The door to these areas is right off of your living room as seen in the picture below.

The Kitchen

Each apartment comes with a fully functional kitchen that is just off of your living room. We provide your large appliances such as the refrigerator & the stove. There's ample space for storage in the cabinets & pantry. In these kitchens, there's enough room for a drop leaf table for dining as seen in the picture below.

Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom is the larger of the two bedrooms. There's enough space for a full, queen, or king sized bed. Then there would still be room for nightstands, a dresser, TV, and entertainment center. In the master bedroom there is a extra large walk-in closet. We've even seen some residents put a desk in the back of the closet to use!

The Bathrooms

There are three parts to the bathroom in our two bedroom apartments.

• Then first part to the bathroom is a guest bathroom that has a toilet, vanity, and also houses the stackable washer & dryer that we provide for you.
• The middle section is the walk-in shower. It has a seat & removable showerhead. There's also a towel bar, grab bar, and shelving for storage.
• The third section also has a toilet & vanity that leads into & is attached to the master bedroom.

All three parts to this bathroom setup can be open or shut off by doors.

The Spare Bedroom

The second bedroom is smaller than the master but can still easily fit a full or a queen sized bed. Depending on which sized bed you choose, you should still be able to fit a nightstand and/or dresser. There's also a closet in the spare bedroom. Many residents use the spare bedroom as an office, craft/quilting room, storage, etc.

Southern Meadows Activities & Meals

We provide activities to our Independent Living residents. All activities are held in the Estates building. Each month is different and brings new activities. Here is a sampling of a few activities to be held in July:

• Free Blood Pressure Checks
• Dirty BINGO
• Bible Study
• Movie & Popcorn
• Humor Me
• Eat out to Maxwell House Restaurant
• Special Musical Performance from Good Ole  Boys
• Cookout & Birthday Parties
• Singin' to the Oldies

Here are some activities that happen every month:

• Work It Off - Exercise Program offered every Mon, Wed, & Fri morning
• Grocery Shopping - every Tuesday
• Shopping at Wal-Mart - every Thursday
• Beauty Salon - every Thursday

We also offer meals to our Independent Living residents. There are two different meal options - $3 or $6 a day for all three meals! The breakfast is a continental breakfast, lunch is a hot meal, and supper can either be just soup or a hot meal (depending on the option you choose). The meals can be taken in our dining area or taken back to your apartment. There's also coffee & tea available 24/7 to anyone in Independent Living who wants it.

Cottages

"Cottages" is our term for a standard house. They are free standing and have an attached one car garage. All of our Cottages are 2 bedrooms. Each Cottage is unique in style and design.

We currently only have one Cottage available. If you are interested, we would encourage you to call and schedule a tour today before it is gone!

Villas

Our Villas are large apartments that come in 1 bedroom or 2 bedrooms and are arranged in clusters of 3-5 units. There are a few different style options: vaulted ceilings, home style, carpeted, laminate flooring, etc. All Villas come with covered parking.

We currently only have one 2 bedroom left but we still have a few 1 bedroom options. So if you are interested in our 2 bedroom, I would call today to schedule a tour!

The Estates Building

The Estates Building is our "hub" for all Independent Living activities, meals, and performances. Anyone living in a cottage, villa, or apartment can join in everything we do in the Estates Building. We have books, games, puzzles, scheduled activities, common areas with furniture and TV with DVD/VCR, and a recreation room on the lower level that has vending machines, pool table, and a full kitchen for parties and group meetings.

Amenities

All of our living units come with fully functional kitchens including a refrigerator, stove, and oven. We also provide the washer and dryer.

We offer meals, activities, housekeeping, free yard work, free maintenance, and free snow removal. Please stop by and see for yourself! We would be more than happy to provide a tour of our campus and living units.

We are located near the city park, local schools, Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Rent-One, Ace Hardware, IGA, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Hardee's, and a variety of other restaurants and shops. We are also only about 10 miles from Vincennes, IN, where there are an abundance of activities, shops, restaurants, and more.

Atmosphere

Here at Southern Meadows Estates, we have some of the best residents. They add to the atmosphere of Christian care, love, and concern. One resident once told us that, "We're all family here, and we take care of each other." Another one said, "I wish I would've moved here sooner! I love it here!"

Pets

At Southern Meadows Estates, we also allow you to bring your pet with you. We allow  pets (with prior, written approval) in our Cottages & Villas (but not in the Estates apartment building) with a small pet deposit.

Our Residents are Our First Priority

Once you become a resident of Southern Meadows Estates, you are a resident of the entire United Methodist Village campus, where you are on priority listing. If you ever need to come into the Village, whether temporary or permanent, you will get priority over others who are not part of the Village. At the Village we offer Rehab-To-Home, Assisted Living, Skilled Care, Intermediate Care, an Alzheimer's Unit, and a  daycare.
